UPS just awarded a grant in the amount of $ 11,100 to the " Partners in Learning Program" which includes Every 1 Read, Boys2Men, GED , Workforce Development, Karate and the Safety Fair.

BROWN FOUNDATION AWARDS LIGHTHOUSE A $268,000 CHALLENGE GRANT
Lighthouse now in its eleventh year has
been at full capacity almost from its beginning. Dick
Beard was asked to Chair a Building
Committee to design a building with capacity to tutor/mentor up to 250
“at
risk” children. When The
By the end of 2008, $461,000 in cash and
pledges had been raised. This left a
balance needed of $536,000. This is
where the Brown Foundation stepped in. Their
grant will cover 1/2 of the needed
balance. It also made fund raising
easier when people realized their gift would be doubled.
By the end of 2009 we expect that over
$100,000 of the matching funds will be raised, with a need to raise an
additional $168,000 by the end of 2010 when the grant expires.
