In
September 1999, the Lighthouse
Community
Center
opened its doors to provide encouragement, support, and a wholesome
learning
environment for children in the Newburgh
area.
Within weeks
enrollment
had grown from four children
to 68 “ at risk”
kids. The current 5,000 square foot cramped facility cannot accommodate
any
more children.
Our
vision is for
Lighthouse to be
the community center that serves children, adults and whole families.
In
October 2007, the Lighthouse Board of Directors approved a capital
campaign to
construct an addition to the current
facility. Our vision is to
make Lighthouse a vital community
center that
brings about positive change and long-term moral, educational
, and economic renewal to the Newburgh
community.

Community Center, ministering
to children, youth, adults and
families of
the Newburgh
and Norfolk
communities.”
