Mission Statement
The
Lighthouse ( A United
Methodist Community Center ) is a vital God-driven force in the
community to help children and youth achieve higher academic levels;
encourage them to cultivate a love for music, art, drama, and dance;
and motivate them to develop their God-given potential to become moral
and spiritual leaders in their community. Our
Mission is to bring about long-term spiritual, educational and
economic renewal and growth in our community by working in partnership
with families, area churches, schools, business and agencies.

Each year the Kentucky Center for
the Arts invites the Lighthouse
Choir and Bell Choir to perform as a preliminary to the Nutcracker
Series. When it was time for the Lighthouse Children to sing
&
ring the lobby was already packed. The noise level
was painful to
where I was sure the Children would not be able to be heard.
Carol
Wellman confidently led the children to positions on the main
central
stairway. It was amazing that once the children
started
to sing and ring the crowd became quiet and
listened. When the
children completed their Christmas Carols they received a great round
of applause. The Children were then escorted in to watch the
Nutcracker. At the end of the Nutcracker the children were given
a
tour of back stage. It was a fun day for the Children, and I
think an
inspiring day for the audience.
